Dr Ellison Stephenson graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1989. She completed a Fellowship in neurosurgery with appointments throughout Queensland and New Zealand. A two year post fellowship appointment was undertaken at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol UK from 2001 to 2003 with attention to all areas of neurosurgery including spine, base of skull and brain injury. Dr Stephenson was associated with research into Parkinson’s Disease specifically neurotrophic growth factors for the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease. Spinal surgery is a large part of her neurosurgical practice. Currently Dr Stephenson is involved in clinical research investigating cervical spine injury following surfing incidents.
