Tell me a little bit about you – name, what you do for a living, what you like to do in your spare time.
My name is Scott and I am a 53 year old single dad of 3 teenagers.
I am the Finance Director for Momentum Collective a Community Services organisation providing personal support services in Disability, Mental Health, Homelessness and Domestic violence support services and Community Housing services in Queensland and NSW. I love my job providing indirect support to the people we walk alongside.
I also love the AFL footy (greatest game on earth!!), exploring our beautiful coastlines, skateboarding, stand up paddle boarding and hiking in our amazing rainforests and keeping busy driving teenage kids around.
Why do you volunteer for PCSRF?
Perry Cross has been an inspiration since the first day I met him. His generosity of spirit is a tribute to the fantastic human being that he is.
I am so grateful to have met him and to have watched him over the years navigate through the challenges of his life with such a powerful attitude, it humbles me and inspires me.
This is my very small way to give him support in the awesome work he does.
What do you love most about your volunteer work?
It’s humbling, it’s fun, it’s for an amazing cause and outcome, and you meet some wonderful and generous people.
What would a cure for paralysis mean to you?
How amazing would it be to be able to allow people to recover from paralysis and to live their lives without such a weight on them or
their family and friends and to allow them to live their best lives.
The successful research and treatment could also lead to supporting other medical breakthroughs in the future.
