Recently our Volunteer Ambassador Lindsay Nott had the pleasure of attending the Queensland Medical Orchestra (QMO) Virtuosis 23 Concert at Edmund Rice Performing Arts Centre, St Laurence’s College.
The Queensland Medical Orchestra (QMO) is an ensemble composed of doctors, medical students, health professionals and friends who come together to share their collective love of music. They provide opportunities for all interested members of the medical and wider musical community to perform orchestral music in a friendly, relaxed environment through a range of entertaining concerts performed in support of charity.
Thank you to the generosity of the audience QMO was able to donate $4000 to support a cure for paralysis.
Since 2004, the Queensland Medical Orchestra and Choir have provided an opportunity for medical professionals, students and friends a chance to share their musical talents with the greater community. Outside of rehearsals, our members range from Directors of major hospital departments to first year medical students; from senior Allied Health specialists to those who work outside of medicine (we affectionately refer to them as “Patients”). However inside rehearsals and on the stage, we all work side by side to get through that tricky semiquaver run or nail those high notes.
With repertoire ranging from the symphonic blockbusters to Broadway showtunes, we perform three concerts a year that aim to please all musical tastes to raise money for the Ashintosh Foundation and numerous other charities.
