About

Daniel is an Old Boy of The Southport School and while there was heavily involved in sport but was also introduced to SCUBA diving. At just 18 years of age while studying Hospitality & Dive Resort Management at Gold Coast Institute of TAFE, Daniel sustained a “catastrophic” injury and this incident left Daniel with a spinal cord injury resulting in paraplegia.

Daniel has been a volunteer of Spinal Life Australia, going out and speaking with school age students in the prevention of spinal cord injuries through their SEAT (Spinal Education Awareness Team) program. After spending time in the PA Spinal Unit, he recognised that prevention and education about spinal cord injuries needed to be spoken about within schools and joining the SEAT team provided this opportunity.

Daniel now works at The Southport School as a Sport Administrator – Risks & Camps, providing support to the school’s Sports Directors in the areas of risk, compliance and camp organisation across all the sports programs at the school. Daniel is also heavily involved within the sports teams both coaching and managing in several sports such as Rugby, Rowing and Football.

A believer in the sharing of lived experience to help motivate others to action, Daniel enjoys helping the foundation to fundraise through involvement in events, the sharing of his story and his ability to communicate the stories of others in meaningful ways.
